Alaska Trip june 2008

After arriving in Vancouver, we took taxis to Granville's public market. The produce was amazing.

Art bought his favorite tropical fruit, lychee nut. Here he's giving everyone a taste.

We went to Vancouver Island, to the city of Victoria to see one of the favorite parts of our journey. Art says that Butchart Gardens is "candy for the eye." I think you're probably grateful we're not posting all 170 pictures he took in the garden that day.

Over 100 years ago this area was a quarry. When they ran out of limestone, the Butchart family didn't want to lay their workers off, so Mrs. Butchart taught them how to be gardners. This area is the sunken garden, the original quarry area.

Every turn was more beautiful than the spot before.

Oh, Arthur, what a romantic in the Italian Garden!

Wow. So beautiful. It sounds like a great cruise. I'm still reeling over the discovery that such a thing exists as a chocolate buffet. Thanks for letting us crash in on you last week. It was great to see you both.
